About Custom Metal Fabrication

Metal fabrication is defined as the construction of metal structures by means of a mechanical or manual process, typically originating from Computer Aided Design files or physical blueprint plans. This fabrication process is typically accomplished through cutting, bending, punching and assembling or welding techniques.

A metal fabrication company, or fab shop, start these metalworking jobs with shop drawings or blueprints with precise measurements in order to plan the projects’ cost, materials, and schedule. Then they’ll begin the fabrication work itself either onsite or in the fab shop facility. Once the fabrication is complete, the team will install the final product. Typical metalwork projects include specific parts for replacement or new components, duct-work, structures for framing new buildings, and commercial or residential stairs, hand railings, or walkways.

Metal fabrication jobs can employ a number of materials, but typically the metal work is with aluminum, stainless steel, or carbon steel.
